LOWIES bushland retreat is 7 kilometres from the magnificent Goomburra National Park.
It provides relaxing, clean and comfortable country accommodation. It is an easy 2-hour drive from the heart of Brisbane and a 1-hour drive from Toowoomba. It is a bitumen road all the way. There are 2 very comfortable and functional cabins which are sure to make your stay enjoyable and interesting. Both cabins are built from recycled materials collected from various buildings in the area.
A variety of birdlife, wildflowers and rare native animals appear at various times of the year. Japanese style gardens have been established for almost 15 years. Many native shrubs and trees have also been planted.
There are 13 species of parrots, cockatoos and lorikeets to be spotted regularly. Itinerant visitors such as the crested hawk, glossy black cockatoos, spangled drongos appear only at certain times of the year. The wedge-tailed eagle is a common sight, whereas the phascogale being a night predator is seen less often. Wildlife is not as common in drought time as after good rain.
Squirrel gliders, sugar gliders, ring-tailed possums along with tawny frogmouths frequent the treetops at night on a regular basis. The large variety of frogs is a testimony to the healthy environment that the property has to offer.
